Treadmill Cats

I am definitely more of a dog person than a cat person, but I had to laugh when a friend of mine sent me this link. Check out the treadmill cats!

Do I smell like a 'frikan voilet?

This little story I am going to tell struck me as VERY funny, but I have been waiting to tell it for a while. I didn't want to push my shower and pregnancy pictures too far down the page until I was sure I had given most of my friends a chance to check them out. So, if you haven't seen them yet, scroll down!!! :)

Anyway, I bought some deodorant at the store a while back, and apparently "Secret Platinum" has some new scents out. I smelled them all and picked up about three that I liked. I didn't even pay too much attention to what kind they were. A couple weeks ago, I broke out another one of my new deodorants and tried it on. I really liked the smell and checked out the label to see what it was called. I started to giggle and turned to Scott and said, "Do I smell like a 'fricken violet?" He gave me the oddest look! It was great!

It turns out this deodorant is called "Afrikan Violet." Maybe I am uneducated, but I don't know why they didn't spell it "African Violet." Anyway, with the fun new spelling, it looked just like you were supposed to say "A Fricken" violet. Maybe you had to be there... but I thought it was very funny. Occasionally I will randomly go up to Scott and ask him again if I smell like a 'frikan violet, giggle, and walk away. What fun we have in our house!

The Cestus Deception Book Review

Marsha's Rating: Padawan Learner (see scale on sidebar)

The next book in the Star Wars saga for me was Steven Barnes "The Cestus Deception." I am in the middle of the Clone Wars, in between Episode II and III. This book was pretty good. Better than some of the Star Wars novels I have read, but it didn't really capture me and compel me to read non-stop (a quality of a great book, in my opinion). I could put it down for days at a time and not come back to it until I found a quite moment to read at night. Good, but not gripping!

I felt that the book was very true to the Star Wars characters, and the plot was interesting. I especially liked how they gave a more personal account of a particular Clone Trooper named "Nate" and tried to help you see the Clones potential to be just as human and unique as anyone else. So, a good read, but not my favorite Star Wars book. Oh, and it was hard to believe that Obi Wan was ever in any real danger (as he is a main character in this book) because I know he lives on to be like 70 years old in Episode IV... so his adventures and peril were not that gripping to me either. I mean, you can't kill him! That just doesn't make any sense!

Baby Shower

My sister and my good friend Nicole threw me a baby shower this weekend for all my friends and family that live in Utah. It was a really fun party, and I thought you might like to see some pictures. I was overwhelmed by the number of people that took the time to come and see me (around 22!!!!), and by the generosity of their gifts. Scott said it best when he said, "Marsha, you attract the best people around." I really feel blessed to call the people around me friends. Our son could not be luckier to be surrounded by so many people who are going to love and support him.

The party started off with introductions, and then while the guests were telling me "mommy stories" they filled out cards of advice for me. Then we had light refreshments and opened presents. It was a pretty simple party, but that was a good thing. Because of everyones generosity, it took me around 45 minutes to open and pass around all my gifts. INCREDIBLE! I want to thank everyone who came. I know I didn't get to spend a lot of one-on-one time with you, but I hope to see you again soon and have a better chance to visit. I think Donna wins the prize for most dedicated friend, as she drove 3 1/2 hours to get to the party, and another 3 1/2 hours to get home. WOW!

Words can not express how special this day was to me, and I know I will remember it forever. THANK YOU!!!

Pregnancy Photos

My very good friend Nicole was kind enough to come spend about two hours at our house taking pictures of Scott and I. We have wanted to have pictures taken of us while we are pregnant. We never know if this will happen again, and I want to remember it as much as I can.

Nicole was so kind and so patient to take as many pictures as we needed to get our favorite shots. In the end, I am VERY happy with what she came up with. I hope you enjoy looking at our pictures too! We took most of them in front of our house, and we borrowed our neighbors front lawn for a couple of them too. Hope you didn't mind Angela!! :) (You should be able to click on the photos to view them larger or save them, if you want to.)
